We are delighted to announce that Civic Trust House has been awarded funding through the Heritage Council’s Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2025. This support will enable us to commission in-depth research into the social and architectural history of 50 Pope’s Quay, one of Cork’s earliest surviving Georgian buildings.
Over the coming months, we will be working with freelance curator and researcher Victoria Kingston, who will uncover stories of the people who lived and worked here—ranging from a cooper and a constable to hospital staff and patients and artists. These findings will form the basis for a new series of dramatised first-person narratives, developed in collaboration with Strive Theatre Company, and recorded for the public to experience both online and on-site.
This project will culminate in a public event during National Heritage Week 2025, alongside the launch of a new interactive digital resource and an interpretive panel outside the building—ensuring this heritage is accessible to all.
We’re excited to share this journey with our community and grateful to the Heritage Council for supporting our work to bring Cork’s hidden histories to life.
